23
23 is the visual sharing company. We build web-based tools to help people get visual, and share their visual thoughts with the world.
We first started experimenting with mobile photo blogging in 2003, and in 2004 we helped a big Danish mobile phone company launch one of the world's first MMS photo blogging services.
The vision of visual sharing was extended in 2005 when we launched 23 Photo Sharing, a website dedicated to help people share their photos with friends and family. The keyword here is sharing: We wanted to build tools that allowed everyone to bring photos online in a secure and fun fashion.
Over the years, 23 Photo Sharing has been used not only for personal purposes; it has also been used in organizational contexts and in companies. This organizational turn in visual sharing was the cue for the next stage of development in 23, and over the years we've done a number of experiments centered around this trend. We've built photo sharing services for everyone from top-500 companies to small museums. We've created democratic involvement projects centered around photo and video collages. And we've done user-driven observation and innovation through photos and videos.
In 2008 we launched Visualblog, which is (you guessed it!) a visual blogging tool for organization. Visualblog makes it easy for a group of people to communicate to the world in both static and moving images; with full control of access, design, domain, content and presentation.
23 Video was launched on the Danish market in 2009. In some senses, Visualblog and 23 Video are twins: Both are web-based services focused on bringing control and flexibility to visual sharing, but 23 Video is much more sophisticated in its focus on video. This means that we've been able to make advanced analytics of video performance alongside a wealth of distribution options.
Throughout we've had a pretty stubborn set of principles guiding how we do web-based services: We believe in simplicity and transparency. You'll always know what you're getting with 23, and we'll never try to make things harder than they really are. We offer our tools under a Software-as-a-Service model. You won't need to worry about licenses, software upgrades and hardware crashes. And we are human. Our developers, our supporters and even our marketers are real people. At 23 you don't get automated responses.
